Last Friday I went to Barnes & Noble. I finally bought “The Future Us” by Jay Asher (who wrote 13 reasons why) and Carolyn Mackler. I’ll be honest, the main reason I bought this book was because I love 13 reasons why and I think Jay Asher is an amazing author. This is an interesting story because it takes place in the 90’s before the internet was main stream and before the invention of facebook. In the story the two main characters receive an AOL trial CD and log on to the internet, Facebook pops up and they log in. They have no idea what facebook is and are confused because this facebook page seems to show them 15 years into the future. Both characters quickly become obsessed with finding out what the future holds for them and become somewhat addicted to Facebook.
I loved this book because it made me realize how much technology has developed into a necessity rather than entertainment. We constantly obsess with websites such as facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. Everyone should read this book, its an eye opener.
Aside from The Future Us, I also got a book that has the most amazing photos of Mujeres who fought along side men in the Mexican Revolution. My sister also bought me “Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children” I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but it looks like such a good book. It looks a bit creepy which means I’m probably going to love it! :)
