ABOUT ME

My name is Deysi. I am a 21 year old girl living in the bay. I go to San Jose State, studying Justice Studies. I love the San Francisco Giants. Photography is my favorite hobby. I like to read and write, my dream is to write a book. My blog is my thoughts and opinions on everyday life.

All photos on this blog are taken by yours truly (unless re-blogged or stated otherwise)

Exactly one year ago, I got the terrible news that my grandmother had passed away in her sleep. Last night, I got the devastating news that my friend was taken from us. I didn’t want to believe it, it couldn’t be true. But after my boyfriend spoke to his sister, we had no choice but to believe it. He was an innocent victim; as he and his sister were in the car ready to drive to school they heard gunshots. They ducked, but just when they thought they were safe the gunman pointed at their car and shot. The man was chasing someone else; when that person got away the gunman became angry and shot at my friends instead. I’m incredibly grateful his sister is okay, but Edwin, Edwin did not deserve this. He didn’t. I met Edwin in middle school, we used to sit in PE together and listen to story of the year, every day we listened to “until the day I die”. He got me into rock & alternative music. He made me smile every day.
When we got to high school, he was still that happy spirited person. He tried to convince me to go into the law academy but I decided to go with MM instead. Even then, he was always there for me. He went to my quinceanera, I only invited a few people to my quince but he has always been one of those special people in my heart.  Such a bright spirit of happiness always walked into a room with so much energy. When one of our friends was in a car accident Edwin came to me and gave me the biggest hug he had ever given me. I tried to calm him down, I had never seen him upset before & I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a smile on his face. I told him everything was going to be okay.
When senior year ended and graduation was upon us he gave me another huge hug. He said “WE DID IT!” Edwin wasn’t the type of person that belonged in a click. He was everyone’s friend. He hung out with the jocks, the skaters, the leadership kids, the soccer players, the popular girls, with everyone. This isn’t just a loss to a couple of people, this is a loss to the entire Richmond community. I’m still in shock and I can’t seem to process this. Edwin, I’m so sorry we weren’t as close these past few years as we used to be. You will always be in my heart and memories. I will always remember the way you smiled, you laughed, the smirk you would give me when you wanted some of my food, and the times you made fun of me cause you were taller and skinnier. You were an amazing friend. Like your sister told us last night “Were in hell, but he’s in heaven, he’s safe and he’ll be looking down on us forever”  <3
